Abstract: Materials, dating to the 1960s-1970s, collected by Maurice, Virginia, and Barbara Heebner, friends of Bernard Herrmann, including correspondence, clippings, and a libretto to Bernard Hermann's tone poem Wuthering Heights. Correspondence from Bernard Herrmann dates to the 1960s-1970s and is addressed to Maurice Schmitgen, Maurice and Virginia Heebner, as well as Barbara Heebner.

Scope and Content

Correspondence, clippings, and the 1951 libretto, written by Lucille Fletcher, to Bernard Herrmann's tone poem Wuthering Heights, collected by Maurice and Virginia Heebner in the 1960s-1970s.
Correspondence from Bernard Herrmann dates to the 1960s-1970s and is addressed to Maude Schmitgen, Heebner family members Maurice Heebner, Virginia Heebner, and Barbara Heebner.
Clippings were collected by Maurice Heebner and pertain to the life and death of Bernard Herrman.

Note on folder containing these materials states: "Maude Schmitgen (Grandmother of donors Barbara Heebner and Linda Fletcher) and Maurice and Virginia Heebner cared for B.H.'s pets during his frequent absences (for London season conducting and movie locations for filming) during [the] 1960s and 1970s.
They were also empowered to collect and open his mail and to forward important mail to B.H. B.H. also hosted Virginia Heebner and Barbara Heebner at his home in London."
