Abstract: This collection contains materials related to the life of senior gay activist, Jack Spratt. Spratt (1919-1991) was born in Kentucky and taught music in junior high schools in Wyoming and the Marshall Islands before relocating to San Francisco in 1974. He was active in many LGBTQ organizations and was one of three gay seniors to carry the torch in the opening ceremonies of Gay Games II in 1986.

Scope and Content of Collection

This collection contains materials related to the life of senior gay activist, Jack Spratt. Spratt (1919-1991) was born in Kentucky and taught music in junior high schools in Wyoming and the Marshall Islands before relocating to San Francisco in 1974. He was active in many GLBT organizations and was one of three gay seniors to carry the torch in the opening ceremonies of Gay Games II in 1986. Included are employment and academic records, a high school yearbook and photographs of Spratt with friends (circa 1938-1970s). Of particular interest are several photos of Spratt with his friend Jack Barber taken around 1938.
