Description
The Black Resource Center records at UC San Diego documents the work of the Center and its affiliates, including administrative
files, publications, projects, events, and outreach.
Background
The Black Resource Center (BRC) was established due to advocacy efforts by students, supported by faculty, staff, alumni,
and the wider community. The desire to create such a center at UC San Diego culminated after a series of racially motivated
events during the Winter Quarter of 2010; leading to student protests and demonstrations. A proposal for the Center was developed
in 2012. Due to these efforts, the Black Resource Center (BRC) opened in May 2013.
