Condition Description: The letter is damaged from glue and wrinkles, with some tearing and brittleness.

Content Description

This collection contains one letter, the famous thank you letter written by General John J. Pershing at the end of the First World War. This copy was furnished to Private James C. Woodrum, American Expeditionary Force. Woodrum served with Machine Gun Company, 314th Infantry. The letter is signed by his commanding officer, Colonel W. H. [Curry]. The letter is glued to a piece of cloth.
The collection also contains Woordrum's honorable discharge and enlistment record document from his service in the First World War.
