Biography / Administrative History
Ron Chapman was a lifetime collector of Stockton postcards and concluded
his long career with the Stockton Police Department as one of their historians.
Alice van Ommeren is also a postcard collector, as well as author of several
history books, including Stockton in Vintage Postcards.
Scope and Content of Collection
This collection of postcards documents the history of Stockton. Most of
the images are of buildings, streets, and businesses. Many aerial views of the
city, real photo postcards, unique three-fold postcard, and postcards published
by the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office in the early 1900’s as miniature
"wanted posters" are also included. Images in this collection date from
approximately the 1900s to the 1990s.
Arrangement
Those images with a Resource Identifier of 0001-2999 were contributed
from the Ron Chapman Postcard Collection, and those numbered 3000 on were
contributed from the Alice van Ommeren Postcard Collection.
