Biographical / Historical

Dennis Hopper (1936-2010) was an American actor, director, and writer for film and television. He began his acting career in television but quickly moved on to film, with his second film appearance being a role in Rebel Without a Cause (1955). Notable roles include Blue Velvet (1986), Easy Rider (1969), and Apocalypse Now (1979). Hopper died in 2010 at his home in Venice, California, as a result of cancer.

This collection contains the papers of American actor, director, and writer, Dennis Hopper (1936-2010). Items in the collection include scripts, clippings, photographs, awards, correspondence, memorabilia, VHS tapes, DVDs, and promotional materials related to Hopper's life and career. Projects of note include Easy Rider (1969), Out of the Blue (1980), Colors (1988), and Chasers (1994). Hopper was active as an actor from 1954 until his death in 2010.
