Scope and Contents
Portraits of well-known Californian and other prominent people who came through San
Francisco, circa 1871-1876. Included are Andrew Hallidie, Darius Ogden Mills,
Milliam O'Brien, William C. Ralston, Tomomi Iwakura, and Horatio Stebbins. There are
three photographs of Louis Agassiz, and a few of the other scientists of the Hassler
Expedition taken in 1872. Many artists are represented, including Albert Bierstadt,
Samuel Marsden Brookes, James Walker, and Hiram Reynolds Bloomer.
