Biography/Administrative History

This company was organized on March 31, 1888. At one time projected as far north as The Dalles, Oregon, on the Columbia River, its trackage, originally three-foot gauge, extended 235.71 miles morthwear from Reno, Nevada via Hackstaff, Wendel and Alturas, California to Lakeview, Oregon, constructed between 1880 and 1912. The Sierra & Mohawk Railway, incorporated June 14, 1911, formed part of the N-C-O Sierra Valley Branch. N-C-O ceased to exist as a corporate entitiy on March 19, 1946 after it was transferred to the Central Pacific Railway on March 19, 1946. Scope and Content of Collection

Includes accounting records for the Nevada-California-Oregon Railway, Nevada-California-Oregon Realty and Sierra & Mohawk Railway. Records include: statement of accounts, journal entries, balance sheets of general ledgers, cash books, trial balances, and vouchers.
