Content Description

This collection contains one letter from Private M.J. Mendelsohn, United States Army to Ben and Bea Goldberg of Brooklyn, New York during the Second World War. The letter was written March 18, 1945 from Camp Blanding in Florida and describes the weather and some of the training conditions, specifically calling his life there as "brutal." He was assigned to heavy gun outfit, "which is the worst outfit to be in (they die rather quickly)."

At the end of the letter, Pvt. Mendelsohn tells them "Funny I never realized how important a letter is to a serviceman, it gives him courage and we certainly need it."
