Biography
Frank Borzage (1894-1962) was born and educated in Salt Lake City. He began his career as an actor in 1912 and appeared in
more than 50 films in five years. He made the transition to director around 1917, helming a string of films for Triangle (later
Borzage would produce many of the films he directed). Among his best-known films are SECRETS (1924), 7TH HEAVEN (1927), MAN'S
CASTLE (1933), LITTLE MAN, WHAT NOW? (1934), THE MORTAL STORM (1940), STAGE DOOR CANTEEN (1943), and MOONRISE (1948). His
last completed film was THE BIG FISHERMAN (1959). Both of Borzage's Academy Award nominations in the directing category—for
7TH HEAVEN and BAD GIRL (1931)—resulted in Oscars.
