Scope and Contents

The Iwasaki Family Photographs (circa 1920-1945) includes eleven digitized photographs (235 mb) about the Akahoshi family. Images in the collection include school portraits and other portaits of Dorothy Shigeko (Akahoshi) Iwasaki, family portraits of the Akahoshi and Hashimoto families, and other portraits of the Akahoshi family.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

This collection was donated during a Scanning Day event in 2018 by Joni Iwasaki.

Biographical / Historical

Toyo Akahoshi was born in Japan in 1883 and immigrated to the United States in 1914. Her husband, Kunisaburo Akahoshi was born in 1187 in Japan and immigrated to the United States in 1920. They had children together, Dorothy Shigeko Iwasaki, Robert Shigeo Akahoshi, and Frank Yukio Akahoshi. Dorothy was born in 1916 in Colorado and died in 1974.
