Biography/History

The origin of the collection is unknown. The materials in this collection come from various sources related to architecture and engineering. H.C. Mathers (1899-1977), whose name is inscribed on the informational book on the San Francisco previous hit earthquake next hit structural damage, was president of the Associated Brick Manufacturers of Southern California. One of the albums with photographs of the Santa Barbara and Helena previous hit earthquakes next hit belonged to Clarence Derrick (1893-1972), a well-known consulting structural engineer, who is recognized for helping to pioneer shock-resistant design. A set of photographs of the Santa Barbara previous hit earthquake next hit in the collection was originally sent to Professor C. Martin Duke (1917-1988), a Professor of Engineering at UCLA, whose work focused on previous hit earthquake next hit engineering and the structural effects of previous hit earthquakes next hit .

Scope and Content

This collection consists primarily of black and white photographs of previous hit earthquake next hit damage in California in the cities of San Francisco, Santa Barbara, and Eureka, as well as Helena, Montana.
