4 for years have formed part of our lives? - Shall they go back into the blackness and the blankness of ? nothing? If not
asking too much I should like an expression of your convictions on this subject. I saw you in Yosemite in 1872. We have some
ferns growing under our dining room window that you Mrs Carr bought from La illegible Farm- and you planted them. Mrs illegible
was speaking of them to-day. She sends her kindest remembrance. I hope you remember me- and that sometime I may know your
ideas on the two questions mentioned above. Yours Cordially Susan Merrill Farnam 1 P.O. box 75 Fruitvale June 14- '03
John Muir Dear friend I have just read the delightful article about you in the Outlook for June 6? and I am more than
glad that to one of earths limitation? it is given to make so much out of a single life. I count it one of the blessing of
my life to have seen and known you in your favorite Yosemite - and many of the things you said then are stored in my memory
and I sometimes repeat them - 03266
