4 Joanna has been spending a week in Portage and has just got home. she wants you to write her a long letter - and so does
the other girls - and so do I - I found an old newspaper the other day, and I thought I would look over it - I saw a paragraph
in it that I thought might interest you, about Mich- igan College, it was printed four years ago, so there might be some difference
now - I enclose it for your perusal Address your letters to Portage City Expecting you will write soon I conclude from your
affectionate Mother 1 Hickory Hill April 3d 1877 Dear Danl. It seems a very long time since I had a letter from you.
I hope you enjoy good health. We are all about our usual way. Margt is going to the water over near Madison for a while. I
hope she will receive that benefit she expects - she has given up house keeping and she sends Anna to Mrs R illegible and
Jessie to me I expect her here today - I rather thank your purse has not grown much heavier this winter unless your wages
have been increased as your expences are so great - Well never mind -
