1 April 5th 1902. 593 Sycamore. Oakland John Muir. Martinez. Dear John. It is rather late to acknowledge the receipt
of the two books which came Thursday The Gaskills only came in yesterday and were delighted to receive one. Mrs Drake is over
the Bay with friends for a few days and I will keep hers until she comes back to finish her visit here. She will not go to
her home (in Strawberry Valley for a month or more. Is hoping E illegible ine Knox will meet her here as the 02977 2
the former is on her way East to here Illinois home from illegible Thanks my friend for your words of sympathy and kindness.
they touch my heart and stir up old memories of the days when surrounded by friends and relatives I was free from care - and
worry - When you come again i want to show you a picture of Fannie. I think it will look natural to you- I have no thought
that Dr. Wilson will ever be able to get as far as your home but thanks all the same for your kind wish. He seems more feeble
than usual illegible 02977
