sunny now and the wind is blowing from the west. Yesterday was very warm as it had been for a long long time. This morning
Mr. Calman brought over the first corn and cucumbers that he raised. Our own vegetables are growing nicely, there are a lot
of sweet potato vines and several kinds of corn and beans and melons. The peaches near the house are getting ripe and there
are some good apples. The little wrens went away long ago but yesterday mama found a nest of Chrysomitris birdies in the nearest
peach tree down the bank, but they had flown away this morning. Aunt Margaret is about as well as usual, we went over there
to see her and May yesterday. Uncle David was here the other day. Mrs. Raap has been very sick in bed. and Mrs. Downer is
still very sick. Monday I took my fourth violin lesson and I played the scale all right. I am so glad for I love my violin
very much and I hope I can play a Scotch tune for you when you come home. I hope you will send me seom pretty mosses and
ferns. Do write as often as you can dear Papa. Good bye with love from us all. Helen Muir. Dear John, Your telegram
from Helena, Montana is just received and we are glad you are on your homeward way once more. We wish we could all be with
you wandering through the cool northern woods, but since we cannot leave mother, please send us many wildwood pictures. Helen
and Wanda are well. Louie.
