Transcription:
letterhead Berkeley, Calif. April 23, 1913. My dear Mr. Muir: Let me offer you my warmest congratulations on the completion
of your seventy-sixth birthday In all that pertains to the real thought and work of the world you are still a young man, and
long may this immortal youth be yours and ours. Winston Churchill, the novelist, lunched with me at my home on Saturday.
He was full of inquiries about you and hopes to meet you some time when he returns from Santa Barbara. Cordially yours
William Frederic Bade diacritic 05428
