Martinez, Feb. 29, 1896. Prof. D S. Jordan: Dear Sir, I had an attack of the Grippe a month ago all my work is in arrears,
besides as you know lecturing is out of my line Therefore I must decline Your flattering invitation to lecture before the
Academy of Sciences with cordial thanks for the honor. I congratulate you, send you my best wishes believe that now the Academy
