WHITE HOUSE, WASHINGTON. November 3, 1904. My dear Mr. Muir: It was a pleasure to hear from you, and I am glad if my
letters were of any assistance to you and Sargent. I am still more pleased that you should say that our brief trip through
the Yosemite together was as pleasant as any part of your subsequent travels. It is a memory I shall always cherish. As to
how the election is going, I haven't the slightest idea. In any event, I have illegible nothing to regret. Sincerely yours,
illegible Mr. John Muir, Martinez, California. 03467
