Transcription:
Martinez, Apr. 30, 1899 My dear Prof. Osborn, Mrs. Osborns letter of the 9th of this month was answered by mine of about
the same date-all but the loving kindness of it, I did not accept the invitation to go north until I received your letter.
How grand it would be could you go, I got the name of the head of the party only two days before the arrival of your letter
you may be sure I was glad to get your information. To think you should know I was going and with whom before I did Now since
our spring trip to Yosemite is off Can we not go in August. It will be late for the Valley but just right for the High Sierra
back of it. I'll go if yon come and take my girls if Mrs Osborn is with us to care for them. Have a letter for me at Seattle
write again here before I go. With kindest regards ever yours John Muir 02672
