R. W. GILDER EDITOR, R. U. JOHNSON, ASSOCIATE EDITOR. C. C. BUEL, ASSISTANT EDITOR. September 12, 1907. Mr. John
Muir, Martinez, Cal. Dear Muir: You will see from the enclosure that there is hardly any danger of a snap judgment in
regard to the National Park-Water Supply matter. Secretary Garfield will find two letters from me awaiting him upon his return,
October 1st. Here is an editorial of mine to appear in November, It was meant for October, but in my absence was crowded
over. If you find anything wrong in it please let me know. Otherwise, do not return it; but do not let it get into print before
October 25th On the 10th I wrote specially to Harrison Gray Otis, editor of the Los Angeles Times, begging him to support
you in this matter. I wish you had told me whether you made any impression on Pinchot. The prospect of your coming East is
very agreeable to me. Do sent me particulars about the scheme so that I may have ammunition to fire off. Make the objections
clear. You have only told me the bare fact. Faithfully yours, R. U. Johnson. Associate Editor. RUJ/EP 03940
