Martinez, July 19th, 1904. Dear Wanda and Helen: We are very glad you are having a happy time and hope you will lay in
a stock of health that will carry you through the dog days of school in triumph. Your call for candy came late, but I suppose
you will at least be able to work on it on the way home. A big box of the stuff, hard as iron, made by the blacksmith or his
wife (who is always brewing some dental mischief or other) was sent you by express yesterday, marked thus -- Wanda Muir, Yosemite
Valley, C/o Sierra Club (Deadly dangerous but not explosive) handle with care, and for Heaven prepare and the dental ohair.
Good angels keep you, darlings, from this Brenin box and the Tuolumne Canyon and the glaciers of Ritter. We are all well
as usual. Stiokeen is better than when you left -- not quite so fat. Like the rest of us he is longing to see you again.
Give my best wishes to the Club and most of the candy. Heaven keep you. Ever lovingly your friend father, JOHN MUIR03411
