letterhead Hoquiam. Washington. April 7, 1898. Mr. John Muir Martinez Cal. My dear Sir: - In the winter of 1896-7
I had the pleasure of hearing your address before the Sierra Club regarding the Forests of the Sierra . I have also enjoyed
your discussions of the Big Trees in your Mountains of California. If I am not mistaken I think you published some years ago
in the illegible A A A S. an article dealing with illegible illegible with the destruction of the Big Trees. If it is possible
will you please send me a copy of this article as I am greatly interested in the subject harms? made an Extension trip among
