2 her cold was much better - but her face and throat were very sore. I think she had the mumps - we have not heard any thing
of her for the last two weeks, but hope school will soon close, Mary has been home for three weeks and looks well - she expects
to return to Madison for another year. I feel happy to have her home again - Joanna and Mary and your father and I spent the
fourth at Sarah's, Margt and John came from Portage, and we had a pleasant time the girls have had letters from John lately
and he is well and comfortable and still loves California - harvest has not commenced with us yet as 3 we have no wheat
this year only oats and corn - the orchard looks well we will have plenty of Apples and grapes and plums - I wish you could
enjoy them with us I believe Davids health is better than when you were here I sincerely hope his difficulties will soon be
overcome-and that he will be able to get along with some comfort. I hope your health is good and my sincere prayer is that
the Lord will ever bless you and keep you at all times - may our trust be in the living God. write soon to your affectionate
