Martinez, Cal. April 26,1909. Dear Mr. Johnson: I have just returned from Daggett on the Mohave Desert, where my daughter
Helen is again located after being five weeks in a Los Angeles Hospital. She is now convalescing and everything looks favorable
for a complete return to her usual health. In the mean time I have not been able to attend to my correspondence, but all
your letters have now been read. They all show forth your old time effective zeal in the good work of saving our parks and
forests, while at the same time carrying a half dozen other burdens, each enough for any ordinary mortal. I expect to see
Mr. Colby tomorrow and tell him to keep you advised of all the Club is doing especially in the Hetch Hetchy matter. I suppose
you have already received from him a copy of our letter to the new Secretary of the Interior Ballinger. Trusting that you
are in good health, and that you will let me know when I can do anything for you, believe me, my dear Johnson, Ever Faithfully
Yours, illegible Mr. R.U. Johnson, The Century Magazine, New York City, N.Y.
