02185 Martinez, California, Dec 8. 1896 My dear Cousin. Yours of Nov. 13th is received I was as I always am glad to
hear from you. I got home from my far wide wanderings months ago found all well they are still well as usual. By this time
the discharge of grandfathers trustees has probably reached Mr Notman so that business will soon be closed if all goes well.
Mr Comb has not, it seems to me acted altogether honorably in the matter in begging compensation for his trouble after having
already been well paid. Nothing would give me more pleasure than another trip to old Scotland to see you all once more, but
the freest of us are more or less bound in this world. I'm glad to hear Dunbar has recovered from the effect of fever last
year is again healthy popular. Give my regards to all my friends believe me ever Cordially your affectionate cousin John
