letterhead July 22, 1897, My dear Dr Muir: I am not stopping here but the hotel kindly loans me the use of its writing
room, I leave on the Excelsior as special correspondent for the New York Herald to do up the Yukon may be gone a year. You
can give me a lot of good advice I want to know if you are coming down this week. If so telegraph or write her to 1300 Leavenworth
St. S F. I get good pay but would give it all up to insure doing good work and so I want your advice. Yours very sincerely
