ARNOLD ARBORETUM, HARVARD UNIVERSITY. Jamaica Plain, Mass., June 6, 1907. Dear Muir: I am very glad to see your handwriting
again and to know that you are good for a trip to Mexico. It cannot be done this summer for I must go to England for a few
weeks, leaving New York on the 20th of June. I have been thinking that I might go down to the City of Mexico next winter as
Mr. Shaw, our Pine expert, is going to establish himself there for the winter, and the new Secretary of the Legation is also
a friend of mine. What do you say to a winter or early spring trip? We could, at any rate, see the Cypress trees which we
ought to see as they are among the most interesting trees in the world. You do not tell me anything about your daughter which
means, I hope, that she is entirely restored to health. I had a visit from General Abbot the other day and he looked as young
and active as he did eleven years ago when we measured that Redwood tree. Faithfully yours, C. S. Sargent John Muir,
Esq., Martinez, Cal.
