First draft of letter, in note-book 59 (69) Mar tinez , NOV. 9, 1900. My dear Prof. Dudley: I am very anxious to do
anything I can with money, writing or talking towards securing a block of 3 or 4000 acres of redwood for a park. I am now
busy on a Sequoia article long promised to one of the magazines, and have more work on my hands than I can possibly get through
with this winter. I would have gladly left off writing to attend the Com. meeting at the Palace if I thought I could do any
good. But my views on the subject are well known. I have nothing new to offer, nor could I say more than I have said should
I talk till doom's day. I am with you in anything you may do toward saving these glorious trees. Let me know what you decide
to try. If the report of the Ex. Com. is printed, please send me a copy. (As for talking at hotel meetings, I could do no
good. My views are well known, and I could say nothing new though I should talk till doom's day. I am now writing on Sequoia
articles.) John Muir 02890
