February 21, 1905 Dear Mr. Muir:- We are extremely sorry to see by your note received the other day that you had already
promised your book on the Yosemite to the Century Co. We had understood from your letters to Mr. Parker that we should have
the pleasure of publishing this book for you on its completion. We are, of course, disappointed for ourselves, but can only
hope most heartily for the successful publication of your book by our friend, Mr. Gilder. We note that if Mr. Gilder cannot
use it, you will do us the pleasure of sending it to us, so that we will not throw up the sponge finally until we hear from
you again about it. With kind regards, Yours very sincerely, illegible Mr. John Muir. 03530
