Martinez Feb. 26, 1908 in margin: Gen 3174 Dear Mr Lummiss: I find that writing postal orders, checks, letters etc for
worthy causes far near takes up nearly all my time leaving only broken scraps for my own work. Therefore I am trying to cut
loose from half or more of the societies I belong to. Here is a check for 20. After this last money is spent on dues cut off
my subscriptions to Indian Archeological Societies believe me nevertheless faithfully yours John Muir Helen is getting
better, I am down with La Grippe
