Santa Anita Assembly Center (Santa Anita, Calif.)
Description:
In response to Crozier's inquiry about undemocratic acts at relocation centers, Ishimaru replies in this five-page letter that his transfer to Poston from Santa Anita is the result of his voicing of concern for the wellbeing of people in the camp. He describes various problems in the Santa Anita assembly center, including deplorable food quality, mismanagement, and the spread of diseases. He also mentions the friction between workers and administrative staff due to dissatisfaction among camp residents. Also included are excerpts of Ishimaru's other letters describing the unfair treatment of camp residents and his suggestions to the authorities for improvement of conditions in the camps.
