1 Pacific Grove, Calif. Sept. 15 - 1908 Dear Brother John: - It is a long time since I have heard from you, but I
hear from Maggie that you are at home again after your summer outing, and are looking well, and that has made me glad. I see
by a clipping that Cecilia sent me in a letter from Ashland, Oregon that you were one of the Harriman party while he was in
Oregon. She said she saw by the newspaper there, that your special tram made a stop of two hours at Ashland, but she did not
know of it until afterward. How fine it would have been if you could have had a little talk and seen each other if only for
a short time. Cecilia has not been well and had to have a long vacation, after being with us here for some time she was making
a little stay in Ashland before returning to Portland. We were glad to hear that Wanda is so well again, and that Helen is
still enjoying the desert and keeping so well. I wrote to her a little while since but have had no answer yet. I suppose it
will be very hot there now. in margin: I am sending this clipping, but probably you have seen it. Celia sent it to me some
time ago. Grace did not manage to visit us this summer. I hope she may next year. 04278
