San Jose, Cal. May, 15th, 1892. My dear Mr. Muir: Your kind letter was received and I will make my headquarter in your
hidden cabine, if you kindly permit me to do so. Please give me a letter to some person, who is in charge of the premises;
or shall I write to the governor for a permit to pitch my tent where I please? Inclosed prospectus will interest you, perhaps
the Derving? Publishing Company may do something to aid the enterprise and I hope that you may write up for us Middle and
Northern California. You are a true artist and I will take great pains to execute in colors what you described so beautifully.
I have sent some of my best watercolor paintings of Southern California to Hanfstaengl Royal Art Publishing House in Munich
(my native city) to be reproduced in Agnarell? Gravure style; in return I was congratulated, that my sketches were the best
representation ever seen abroad of our beautiful amosphere s tints, beculiar only to Southern California,
