very busy one, I had some extra lectures to prepare, an address before the Am. Philological Association, which went off smoothly
the second day after Xmas then came some quiet days with the children to whom I read parts of your new charming book, a day's
trip to a gigantic lovely redwood on 3 our Coast range (with Th. B. illegible ) and now again the semester with a number
of cares and 'worriment' and another article to be finished by next Wednesday - - - the old dance of American 'over industry',
the s illegible fying effects' of which you criticize so truly I often think of your wise? way of spending your earlier days
in nature, with nature, as part of Nature( ), and I hope that I shall yet have a chance to imitate you. We have spent a very
happy Xmas time, and the New Year has found us all in good health, and enjoying the fine sunshine of the aftermoors as much
as the fogs of the
