1424 W. 37 Place Los Angeles December 10 Dear Dr. Bird, With heavy heart I write you this note. This past summer I had the
privilege and honor of meeting you personally. Even though I was a total stranger, you treated me in a very warm and friendly
manner which made a very deep impression on me. I wish to thank you again for the very kind and considerate attention which
you showed me in discussing my problem. I talked with Dr. Odell this past Monday and he advised me to finish this semester
at least. I took his advice and yesterday was about to leave my brother's house for school when my brother returned and related
his experience. He made several attempts to board a street car but was prevented for doing so. I though that this might be
just an isolated case, but on the other hand it may be a systematic expression on the part of a group of people, and so thought
it best to withdraw from school. I am bitterly disappointed in not being able to continue my schooling and so not being able
to become an ordained minister. (Page 2) However, I trust and place my faith in God that I may be able in some small way to
help and guide others to our Lord and Savior-especially people like myself, American citizens of Japanese parentage. I am
still in debt to the school, at the present time I don't know when I'll be able to pay it, but I promise to pay the school.
With the deepest appreciation for your kind consideration, I am Gratefully yours, Sinpachi Kanow
