The American ogazine Conducted byJeSn S. Phillips 341 fifth Avenue New York The Phillips Publishing Company June 23rd,
1909 Mr. John Muir, Hart tries, Calif. My dear Mr. Muir: It was really a groat pleasure to have your letter of the
7th, even though you can't at present see your way to letting us have any of your writings. I wish that the time night come
when you could. Thero is indeed nothing I should more enjoy doing than to make a trip with your Sierra Club, and catch glimpses
of the mountains through your eyea. If I were only free, I should certainly go out and join you. Another year I may be able
to do it. With sinoer regards, I am, Very sincerely yours, illegible 04531
