We are wondering what may have happened to you and yours and what strain you may he under owing to the tremor. Mr. Johnson,
who had charge of the Vesuvius affair, is still abroad but worrying about you. He wishes us to let him know. Mr. Ellsworth,
secretary of our company,was in Oakland when the earthquake came on, and he was made a grandfather. Yours faithfully, illegible
