to their dismay they heard the whistle of the departing train, as the dispatch was put into their hands. The poor fellows
went home hanging their heads. There is a freight train starts from Crete for Lincoln at six oclock A. M. so they concluded
to try to go by it. but were again doomed to disappointment when they found out the train was about three hours late. They
then went home ate breakfast I suppose began to think that there was nothing certain in this world, and judging by our behaviour
the past winter. that perhaps we would object to Sunday traveling might not come home until next day. so they then sent a
dispatch telling us to come to Crete on the noon train. (which of course was our intention)
