Photograph of interior mural in Bldg. 4440, 1st floor, east end, north wall, 25.5" wide x 32.5" high. This is the 9th Infantry
Regiment Coat of Arms. The blue color is the infantry color, the wigwam refers to the Indian wars in the 1800s, the bottom
has a red trim gules, and the sun represents service in the Philippines and in the China relief expedition (1900-1901). The
five-toed dragon represents the Imperial Chinese Guard, and the Filipino insurrections. The wavy chevron represents the San
Juan River crossing during the Battle of Santiago in 1898; the location was referred to as Bloody Angle.
