the two Adenostoma Martinez Dec. 11. 1900 My dear Mr Lukens The package of specimens came after mailing a letter for
you yesterday It is Adenostoma sparsifolium. The other species, Adenostoma fasciculatum so abundant in the Sierra farming
extension belts like heath just below the yellow pine, of course you know, often called chamiso . Your species is restricted
to the southern ranges, I first saw it on the San Jacinto Mtns back of San Diego I would like to see it in flower. It belongs
to the rose family Ever Yours John Muir
