January 9, 1902. Dear Mr. Muir, I found your letter of December 23rd awaiting me on my return from a visit West, and have
only waited until I could get a report on the sales of the National Parks book. I find there were sold up to the end of the
year about 1800 copies, which is a very good start, and may, I hope, lead to results sufficiently generous to make you want
to finish the other books that you have in mind, especially the Yosemite book, and later the autobiography, in which I have
become peculiarly interested. Thank you very heartily for your good wishes for Christmas and the New Year, and if it is not
too late, I hope you will take 02934 my good wishes for the New Year in return. Sincerely yours, illegible Mr. John
Muir. illegible
