Transcription:
Redlands, Cal., Jan. 4, 1902. Mr. John Muir, My dear Sir: I was very much gratified to receive your volume on Our National
Parks, etc., and I thank you most heartily for it. Many of the chapters I read and admired as they appeared in the Atlantic.
The field is your own. and I hope you have yet many things in store for your readers and admirers. My own life has been too
exclusively devoted to other kinds of contemplation, and consequently I am driven to an outdoor life and a kinder climate.
It seems probable that my life will henceforth be in California, and in Redlands. I wish I might have the pleasure of meeting
you and seeing some new things with you. Again thanking you and assuring you that I shall read the volume with profit as
well as pleasure, I am, Very truly yours, C. K. Adams Letter marked, in Muir's handwriting, Pres. Adams 02919
