(Original in possession of Dr. Clara Barrus) 325 West Adams Street, Los Angeles, Cal., Jan. 13, 1911. Dear John Burroughs:
Hello and Hurrah Welcome to the grand side of the continent I am stopping at the above address and will probably be here quite
a little while. Mr. Browne is staying in Pasadena. I saw him the other day. He brought the first news of your coming this
way with Mrs. Burroughs. Your friends, Colonel and Mrs. Sellers, I see quite frequently. They are both well and will be glad
to see you. Mr. and Mrs. Hooker told me to convey their compliments to you and Mrs. Burroughs, with a cordial invitation
to come to dinner at any time that suite your convenience after your arrival in this warm and of the state. Wishing you all
good luck for the New Year, I am, Ever faithfully, John Muir 04939
