Home on the hill. Oct. 20 1909 Dear Mrs Hooker Marian: How are you getting through the big Parlulo show? how are all
the folk at Los Angeles I had a glorious ride through the forests. Never before have seen the Indian summer colors so rich
varied. The President I also enjoyed. The merriest man I ever saw he made all his company merry. The birds squirrels deer
were half charmed frightened. Ballinger I also liked the H. Hy. scheme seems doomed. Just before leaving the park I caught
a severe bronchial cold sleeping in a dusty garril am slowly growling crowing eroding a way down to my right lung, getting
able to speak a little scotch Hope to be well in a week or two. Helen is married- honeymooning at Riverside Ever faithfully
yours John Muir
