PRIVATE OFFICE FRANK A. MILLER Riverside, Cal. Feb. 8, 1908. My dear Mr. Muir: Do you know of any lime rock formation
in or near the Yosemite where we could establish a lime kiln that would turn out enough lime for the construction of the new
hotel in the Valley? Also, do you know of a practical man in the Yosemite neighborhood who would be capable of undertaking
this work? I regret very much that I was away on my European trip when you visited the Mission Inn and hope you will be south
again soon. It would be a great pleasure to have you as my guest for at least two weeks.I want to show you the points of interest
around Riverside the next time you come. Sincerely yours, illegible Mr. John Muir, Martinez, Calif. 04060
