Martinez, Jan, 10, 1899. My dear Prof Sargent. I've been thinking about that Silva River job but it wont take shape. Cant
you sketch me the outlines of the thing? You tell me you are passing your time pondering Crataegus you want me take up the
balance of the trees blandly informing me that in the forests of North America I have an opportunity of doing a tip top piece
of work . While no end of other things are pushing me. Still I hope to try. I am now haggling with the Yosemite Park making
slow progress. I'll try to get some one in Skagway, or some of the steamer men to send the birch flowers you want. When does
