Berkeley Jan 8 Dear Helen I was not quite drowned last Sunday and reached here safely none the worse for my soaking. I
did not take cold and the furnace is in working order and I am feeling very well and happy. I was glad that I sent you home
for the station hill was awfully muddy and wet, the tunnel is a pretty good place to wait in and I did not feel any draught
but I don't think it would have been good for a girl with a cold. I'm afraid Arthur's idea of the Santa Fe was not improved
very much. Everything here is about as usual, there are two new boarders and a lot of new day pupils, a good many of the girls
are not back yet but I am glad that I came in time to learn Monday's lesson for I have so much to do that it is hard if I
lose any to make it up. I am very glad that Papa is better and that you are not feeling badly even though you are coughing,
I hope you will both be well by Friday, and that Aunt Margaret will be feeling better. I don't think that I will bring any
one with me Friday night as Mary has a bad cold 09181
