photo of State Normal School on letterhead San Jose, Cal. Sept 5 1877 Friend Muir: I am glad you are to go to Shasta
with Gray Hooker. Had I had two days notice I would have gone, also, if your party had given me permission. It is now too
late. I send enclosed letters to Cengden, Gatch and Bishop Mom s. If you can, present all of them. You will find Pres. Gatch
a pleasant Gentleman, and Bishop Mom s is a plain genial man, who will know more of routes of travel, how to get around, probably,
