Autobiographies and Reminiscences of California Pioneers, p.71-72, Vol. 1. This is a typed transcript, bound into a volume,
of the member's autobiographical reminiscence created as an institutional record for the Society of California Pioneers. The
original handwritten version exists in the member's Biographical File. This reminiscence includes a reference to a photograph
of the member in a set of bound volumes. It appears that the photographs in this set were dispersed throughout the regular
photography collection, but the photographs referenced in the related materials may or may not be these same photographs.
This very brief reminiscence offers some family history as well as limited information regarding Carr's journey to California.

Autobiography & Reminiscence of Jesse D. Carr, Salinas, 1901. The Society of California Pioneers
Jesse D. Clark left New Orleans for California on June 10, 1849. He was thirty-five years old. He sailed on the Steamer
"Alabama", to Panama, and then missed the next Steamer and so was forced to spend the month of July in Panama. He left Panama
for San Francisco on August 1, 1849 and arrived August 18th. He immediately found work as the Deputy Collector of the Port
of San Francisco. His family hailed from Sumner County, Tennessee
